Types Of Turbochargers In Marine Diesel Engines | Axial Flow And Radial Flow TurboChargers

Types Of Turbochargers In Marine Diesel Engines
Based on the exhaust gas flow, there are two type of turbochargers: Axial- flow turbo chargers and Radial turbo chargers.
Axial- Flow Turbochargers
Exhaust gas in and out of the turbine blade along the axis of the shaft are called axial- flow turbochargers.

Radial- Flow Turbochargers
Exhaust gas enters the turbine blades along the radial direction and leaves the turbine along the trailing edge of the blade.  these type of turbo chargers are called Radial- Flow turbochargers

    1. TCA is normally used on large 2 stroke engines, like if it is RT-Flex 10 cylinder engine. There will be 3 turbochargers connected to the dame manifold, for sufficient scavenging. So, to accommodate all the 3 turbochargers we need to accommodate it on the same platform, and use 3 inlet ducts in adjacent to the blower.
