Marine Auxiliary Boiler In Ship Uses And Types

                   Boiler is a pressure vessel used on ships in which the water is heated to evaporate and generate steam and the unit is so arranged that the generated steam is accumulated in it. So, its function is to transfer the heat produced by the combustion of fuel to water and finally to generate steam. i.e power generation.

Uses of Steam Onboard
> Fuel oil heating & Lube oil (sometimes) heating
> Cargo heating
> Soot blow
> Heating accommodation areas in cold
> Warming of Engine, before starting
> COPT etc

Types of boiler
  > On the basis of position of hot gas and water - Fire tube (smoke tube) boiler & Water tube boiler.
> On the basis of circulation of water - Natural circulation boiler & Forced circulation boiler.
> On the basis of axis of shaft - Vertical tubular & Horizontal tubular
> On the basis of Firing - Internally fired boiler & Externally fired boiler       
    Generally onboard ships there are 2 types of boilers are used, Fire tube boiler and water tube boiler .
